Park Description
Developed in 1918 as part of Riverside, a neighborhood originally built as a company town for workers of the McDougall-Duluth Shipbuilding Co., Riverside Park was donated to the city in 1930. It features a softball diamond, basketball courts, and playground equipment.
Park improvements were funded through the St. Louis River Corridor Initiative and community contributions from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Riverside Community Club, and Spirit Valley Land Company. The project included removal of the deteriorated community center, replacement of the playground, tree planting, a half-court basketball court, portable restroom enclosure, and new site amenities.
