Park Description
May 2020 Notice: The fishing pier at Boy Scout Landing has temporarily been moved to Perch Lake. A large sand bar has developed where the fishing pier is normally installed with no alternate site available at this time. The DNR and City of Duluth are working to find a location to install this fishing pier. Shore fishing is still available at Boy Scout Landing along with other Public Water Access Sites on the St. Louis River, including Rice's Point Interstate Fishing Pier, Indian Point Fishing Pier, Munger Landing Fishing Pier, and Chambers Grove Park. For more information please contact Kevin Johnson, Two Harbors Assistant Area Supervisor, DNR Parks and Trails Division, 218-834-1431 or kevin.g.johnson@state.mn.us. Located in in New Duluth where Commonwealth Avenue ends at the St. Louis River, this boat landing was maintained by Troop 13 of the Boy Scouts of America until the 1980s when the city took ownership. It features a public boat landing and fishing dock and provides opportunities for birders.
