Campus Connector Trail
Project Overview:
The Campus Connector trail is a paved, multi-use commuter recreational trail that will run from the Lakewalk to Rice Lake Road. The trail will provide vertical connectivity for residents, nodes of business and education institutes along its path. This will be the first paved, vertical commuter corridor in Duluth. Initial planning started in 2010 and led to the creation of a portion of the Campus Connector Trail along Congdon Parkway (Segment 6) in 2014. In 2016, the City installed bike lanes along College Street (Segment 3).
In late 2018, planning efforts resumed through a partnership with the Metropolitan Interstate Council to further refine the planning scope and implement public and stakeholder engagement opportunities. Duluth City Council approved the Campus Connector Trail Mini-Master Plan on October 28, 2019.
Project Update:
In 2026, City of Duluth Public Works will be constructing a portion of the Campus Connector Trail Segment 4 between Junction Avenue and approximately Snelling Avenue, as well as all of Segment 5. Segment 5 travels along St. Marie Street between Carver Avenue and Vermillion Road.
Between 2027-2028, City of Duluth Public Works will construct the remaining portion of Segment 6 between East 1st Street and the Lakewalk at the intersection of South 32nd Avenue East.
