Building Safety Month 2025
The City of Duluth ‘s Planning and Economic Development Department is celebrating May as Building Safety Month 2025.
Created 45 years ago, the purpose of Building Safety Month is to increase awareness around the importance of building codes and highlight the crucial role that building safety professionals play protecting billions of lives around the world.
Building codes are used to protect new homes, offices, schools, manufacturing facilities, stores and entertainment venues. Adoption and administration of modern, regularly updated building codes, and helps individuals and businesses create safe and sustainable structures.
For the rest of the month of May, the City will be posting weekly press releases highlighting different elements of building safety. And on Wednesday, May 28th, there will be a short public educational event for those that want to learn more. Details of the specific time and place of this event will be forthcoming.
