Building Safety Month 2025
The City of Duluth ‘s Planning and Economic Development Department is celebrating May as Building Safety Month 2025.
As a part of its Building Safety Month 2025 offerings, the City of Duluth’s Planning and Economic Development department will host a brief 30 minute public information session on Wednesday, May 28, at 8:00 AM, at the DECC Split Rock Room for those that want to learn more about building code.
This will be a simple 30-minute, surface-level presentation, suited for people unfamiliar with the basics of the Minnesota State Building Code. In addition, City staff from the Economic Development and Construction Services and Inspections divisions will be present at the event to engage the public in discussion about code and about building safety.
City of Duluth staff is requesting that residents interested in attending the event to reserve their seat by sending an email to permittingservices@duluthmn.gov. Seating capacity is limited.
Created 45 years ago, the purpose of Building Safety Month is to increase awareness around the importance of building codes and highlight the crucial role that building safety professionals play protecting billions of lives around the world.
Building codes are used to protect new homes, offices, schools, manufacturing facilities, stores and entertainment venues. Adoption and administration of modern, regularly updated building codes, and helps individuals and businesses create safe and sustainable structures.
