Project Overview:

Stormwater discharging from a storm sewer outlet, was causing an erosion issue. After leaving the storm sewer, the runoff was flowing in a ditch down a steep hillside. The erosion was undermining a gas service and an overhead utility pole that was used for electric and communication transition endangering the utilities.  The erosion was also polluting the storm water runoff which ultimately discharges to the St Louis Estuary and Lake Superior.

This project will construct a fused HDPE pipe down the hill to eliminate the erosion on the hill side caused by the storm sewer outlet. The fused storm sewer pipe will prevent the pipe from separating and leaking, which is common for storm sewer installed on steep slopes and can result in slope failure. The pipe will be anchored to prevent it from moving and be bedded in gravel with a draintile pipe to reduce the risk or future ground water seeps. The project will also add storm sewer inlets on Skyline Parkway to capture drainage from the roadway.
