3rd St Reconditioning- Mesaba Ave to 12th Ave E

The City of Duluth is preparing for construction on East 3rd Street between Mesaba Avenue and 12th Avenue East that will take place in 2023. This reconditioning project is primarily intended to preserve the life of the existing roadway. Project work will upgrade the curb-to-curb pavement condition while upgrading intersection curb ramps and existing sidewalks to meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  Traffic signals at the intersections of East 3rd Street and Lake Avenue, and East 3rd Street and 6th Avenue East, will be replaced; the signals at East 3rd Street and 10th Avenue East will remain; and all others within the project area will be removed. Design engineering will be conducted by LHB Corp. and overseen by the City of Duluth. This project will be financed by the City of Duluth through federal and Minnesota State Aid for Streets funds. Given the availability of these non-local funds, property owners will not be assessed to pay for this project.
