Temporary two-way traffic change on W Michigan Street; Depot Parking Ramp access to shift

[DULUTH, MN] Contractors working at The Depot will close the current entrance to the Depot Parking Ramp to make improvements. Beginning Thursday, September 3, 2026, contractors will begin construction of a temporary entrance for the parking ramp west of the current Sixth Avenue W entrance.

The Depot ramp will remain fully open on September 3 through normal access. Once the temporary access construction is complete, the main entrance will be closed, and patrons will be required to use the temporary entrance on Michigan Street.

Temporary two-way traffic flow will be in place on Michigan Street between Sixth Avenue W and the Gateway Towers/Depot Parking Ramp. This entrance will cross the Cross-City Trail spur along Michigan Street.

Traffic impacts:

  • I-35 Ramp to Michigan Street: There will be a lane width reduction to allow for the temporary driveway work and subsequent two-way traffic. Temporary short-term delays may be expected as equipment and materials arrive or depart the work area.
  • Depot Parking Ramp: The ramp will remain fully open at all times, though during the work the access to the ramp will be shifted to the temporary driveway once available.
  • Gateway Towers: Access will remain on Sixth Avenue W with no restrictions.
  • Cross-City Trail: Patrons of the Depot Ramp will cross the trail at the temporary ramp. Pedestrians and bikers should use caution and be aware of this activity during this work.
