City of Duluth to temporarily close 24th Ave W (3rd Street to 8th Street)

[DULUTH, MN]  City utility crews will be closing 24th Avenue West on Wednesday, April 15th to repair a water valve. In conjunction with this repair, City engineering staff will be performing inspections in preparation for a reconstruction project to be constructed in 2027. Once work is completed, the road will be reopened to normal traffic. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to US 53 via 21st Avenue West and 10th Street. Streets passing through the closure area will remain open (4th Street, 5th Street, 6th Street, 7th Street) to assist with local traffic flow. The City encourages drivers to consider using alternative routes to get to their destination and allow extra time travelling in this area on Wednesday.

Detour routes as follows:

              NB: 24th Ave W > 3rd Street > 21st Ave W > US 53 (northbound) > 10th Street > 24th Ave W

              SB: 24th Ave W > 10th Street > US 53 (southbound) > 21st Ave W > 3rd Street > 24th Ave W
