2023 Citizen Police Academy

The Duluth Police Department is looking for 25 individuals that are interested in understanding police operations to attend the 2023 Citizen Police Academy (CPA). This academy will take place every Wednesday from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. starting March 8 until May 24.

“The Citizen Police Academy is a great way to foster relationships between the community and our officers,” said Chief Mike Ceynowa. “It gives attendees the opportunity to get hands-on experience and understanding about daily functions at DPD.”

CPA offers citizens both in-field and in-the-classroom instruction regarding different tactics, operations, and divisions within the Duluth Police Department. There will be multiple opportunities for questions to gain a better understanding of Duluth Police practices and procedures, and the reasons for them. Our goal is to unite our citizens and police officers as we work together to create a safe Duluth for all.

If you’d like to get a better understanding of police operations and how DPD serves the City of Duluth, then fill out the application and criminal history form on our website here: https://duluthmn.gov/police/citizen-opportunities/citizen-police-academy/

Those accepted to participate in the 2023 Citizen Police Academy will be contacted in mid-February with more details.
