City to Hold Public Informational Meeting on Cross City Trail Construction
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division invites the public to attend an informational meeting to discuss upcoming construction of the Cross City Trail. The public meeting will take place from 6:00-7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 24th at Evergreen Senior Center (also known as City Center West), located at 5830 Grand Ave.
The planned construction will consist of an extension of the paved trail from the current Cross City Trail terminus at Carlton St in Lincoln Park, westward to Irving Park. During the meeting, the construction timeline and other details of the work will be shared.
The new trail segment is referred to as the “River Route” and will be funded by Federal, DNR, and Tourism Tax funding as part of the larger St. Louis River Corridor Initiative to invest in public park and trail improvements in western Duluth.
In 2017, the City Council approved the Cross City Trail Mini-Master Plan, which outlines the long-term plan and phases of connecting the Lakewalk to the Willard Munger State Trail with a non-motorized, multi-purpose, and accessible paved trail. More information about this plan can be found at https://duluthmn.gov/parks/parks-planning/st-louis-river-corridor/cross-city-trail.
Please contact Lisa Luokkala, Senior Parks Planner, at lluokkala@duluthmn.gov or 218-730-4312 with comments or questions in regards to this meeting. A meeting summary will posted at the link above following the meeting.
