CONTEST RULES:
- Names submitted should be under 25 characters and no more than three words.
- Names should be appropriate and cannot contain profanity or inappropriate language.
- Politically inspired names (including phrases, slogans or plays on politicians’ names) will not be considered. Naming snowplows is meant to be fun and lighthearted, so we’re going to keep this contest nonpartisan and nonpolitical.
- Names cannot be an individual’s name.
- The name submitted should be a name that is created by the submitter, and not otherwise owned or trademarked by another entity, such as a movie, TV, or person’s name, or reference to an existing company.
- By submitting a snowplow name, you grant the City of Duluth all rights to use/display/publish the name you submit to the Snowplow Naming Contest for promotional purposes.
- If the same name is submitted by multiple people, the entry that came in first will be the one considered.
- Names submitted must include a contact name. Personal contact information will only be accessible to City of Duluth employees to contact the winners and will not be sold or provided externally.
PRIZE PACKAGE:
- Take a photo with the plow and crew.
- Ride in the snowplow during parade.
- Unlimited bragging rights.
REGULATIONS:
- Any Duluth resident may submit their most creative name.
- One entry per person will be allowed.
- Snowplow names can only be submitted online.
- All submissions are due by October 22, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. City staff will review submissions and select a top ten. The top ten names will be voted on by the public October 28- November 4.
- The winning name will debut on November 22, 2024, during the Christmas City of the North Parade.
- Winners will be notified by phone or email.
- Name(s) of the winning participant(s) will be shared in a news release, on the city’s website, social media.
