The Duluth Fire Department responded to a high rise fire in Downtown Duluth this evening. Upon arrival at Tri Towers, a fourteen story apartment building, fire was discovered in an apartment on the thirteenth floor. Firefighters entered the apartment and extinguished a fire that had been partially contained by the building’s sprinkler system.

 

Firefighter’s rescued a man from the burning apartment and he was immediately transported to St. Mary’s by Gold Cross Ambulance. No information is available on his condition at this time.

 

The fire was contained to a single apartment, and smoke and water damage to the remainder of the building was limited.

 

All total, twenty firefighters responded to the incident with three engine companies, one ladder company, one Quint and one rescue squad.

 

Damage to the building and contents is estimated at $40,000. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
