Children's Area at Main Library to Close Temporarily for Refresh Project

[DULUTH, MN] The Children's Area at the Main Library (520 W. Superior St.) will be temporarily closed starting Monday, November 2, in order for the space to be updated. The refresh project includes the installation of new furniture, a redesigned layout, and an updated play space. The last day of activity and service in the current space will be Saturday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library will host its annual "Mini Monster Mash" Halloween celebration for children and caregivers that day, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Main Library's children's collection will be in storage while the project is underway and unavailable for use. Kids and their caregivers are advised to visit the Mount Royal and West Duluth branch libraries for materials while the Main Library collection is unavailable.

Youth programming at the Main Library will proceed as scheduled and all other library departments will remain open while the project is underway. The refresh project is expected to take four to five weeks with a grand reopening and celebratory programming to take place in December. Check the library's website at DuluthLibrary.org for progress updates and information about reopening celebrations.

"Our current children's space has been well used and loved over the decades with countless memories and discoveries made by our youngest community members," reflected Youth Services Supervisor Brianna Belanger.
"Now, we are ready to say thank you and goodbye to the current space, and make way for a reimagined space that will serve many future generations of library kids."
