The Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force (LSVOTF) and partner agencies conducted a focused crime impact detail in the downtown area in response to community safety concerns and complaints regarding criminal activity.

The detail was designed to address individuals involved in violent and other serious criminal offenses, outstanding warrants, and criminal activity contributing to concerns about public safety in the downtown area. A particular focus was placed on criminal elements who prey upon vulnerable individuals struggling with addiction, including those who exploit people through drug sales, threats of violence, and other criminal conduct.

The results of the enforcement effort yielded 14 arrests with the following pending charges:

The LSVOTF remains committed to identifying and apprehending individuals who pose a threat to public safety while working collaboratively with law enforcement partners, social service providers, and the community.

The crime impact detail is part of an ongoing effort to respond to community concerns, increase the visibility of law enforcement in areas experiencing criminal activity, and improve safety for residents, visitors, businesses, and those who live and work downtown.
