Individual Arrested in 1st Street Incident

Update:

59-year-old Kurt Hutchinson was arrested and lodged at the St. Louis County Jail for pending charges of 2nd Degree Assault and Threats of Violence charges. 

Update:

The male surrendered peacfully after negotiations with DPD's Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT. There were no injuries as a result to this incident. More information will be shared at a later time as this incident is currently being investigated.

Duluth Police are on scene in the 100 block of West 1st Street for a report of a male with a firearm that barricaded himself in a storage unit. DPD’s Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT are being called to the scene to work on a peaceful resolution. The 100 block of West 1st Street will be closed while this is an active scene. We encourage the public to find alternative routes and stay out of the area.
