Update to July 6 Canal Park Shooting

In reference to the Canal Park shooting that occurred on Monday, July 6, the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Delainey Turnipseed. The arrest warrant is for pending charges of 2nd Degree Assault and Threats of Violence.

Investigators have identified Turnipseed as the suspect who was involved in the incident where a 17-year-old male sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. This is after a physical altercation between Turnipseed and the victim occurred. Turnipseed and the victim are known to each other.

Duluth Police believe Turnipseed fled the area. He is described as being a black male, 6-feet tall, and weighing about 160 pounds. Turnipseed was last seen wearing all black with a black and green hoody. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Turnipseed, you are encouraged to call 911 and reference ICR# 26096359.

Tonight, July 6th shortly after 10:00pm, the Duluth Police Department, St Louis County Sheriff's Office, Mayo Ambulance, and Duluth Fire Department responded to a male with a gunshot wound near the 400 block of Canal Park Drive in Duluth. This person was transported to a local hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of this communication, no one is in police custody. This incident is currently and open an active investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please call the Duluth Police Violent Crimes Unit at 218-730-5050. No further information is planned for release overnight.
