Duluth Police Reserves and Neighborhood Citizen Patrol Programs
The Duluth Police Department is launching an open survey to gauge the community interest in a Duluth Police Reserve program and a Neighborhood Citizen Patrol program. If you are interested in participating in either program, we encourage you to completely fill out the survey at the link below.
“This survey is the first step in evaluating the potential of creating both programs,” said Chief Mike Ceynowa. “Responses will help us better understand the community’s interest in these programs and will help us connect with you.”
“Repeatedly, members of the community ask me, ‘How can I help?’”, said Mayor Roger Reinert. “The Police Reserve and Neighborhood Citizen Patrols are both great examples. They not only directly invite residents to be a part of our community programs but could also free-up our badged Officers to prioritize other public safety requests.”
The survey is open until Thursday, April 30th. Responses and response volume will then be evaluated to determine sufficient community interest in one, or both, volunteer opportunities.

About Both Programs
Police Reserves Program:
The Police Reserves supplements Duluth Police Department operations by assisting with traffic control, community events, foot patrols, and any other duties as needed. Reserve members work alongside law enforcement to offer essential support, maintain public safety, and contribute to crime-prevention efforts through their visible presence.
Neighborhood Citizen Patrol Program:
The Neighborhood Citizen Patrol are volunteer, community-based groups that work with local law enforcement to act as "eyes and ears," enhancing neighborhood safety. These community-based volunteer groups help enhance neighborhood safety by observing and reporting suspicious activity, supporting crime-prevention efforts, and promoting awareness. Duluth Police’s Neighborhood Citizen Patrol Program may include neighborhood watches and/or organized patrols in your neighborhood.
