Tree removal underway in various sites in preparation for construction projects

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth has begun tree removal on West College Street between Junction Avenue and Woodland Avenue and on West St Marie Street between Waverly Avenue and Woodland Avenue. Trees are being removed in preparation for the construction of the Campus Connector Trail segments four and five which is expected to begin this year.

The City of Duluth will also begin tree removal on West Superior Street between Piedmont Avenue and 18th Avenue West beginning March 31. Trees are being removed in preparation for the West Superior Street reconstruction work that is expected to begin in May. 50% more trees will be replanted in this area following the project and there will be over 300 trees planted as part of the complete reconstruction project.

When tree clearing is occurring, motorists can expect lane shifts and parking restrictions. Work is expected to be complete by April 2.

Project staff will be holding a West Superior Street reconstruction project public update meeting at a to be determined date in May, prior to road construction beginning. For project information, please visit the website at westsuperiorstreet.com.
