Mayor Roger Reinert provides statement regarding Blatnik Bridge project funding release

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] Below is a statement from Mayor Roger Reinert regarding the Blatnik Bridge project funding:

 

"Last week I made it out to Washington, D.C., to meet with our full federal delegation and worked to underscore the urgency of moving the Blatnik Bridge project forward. Yesterday’s announcement that $1.05B in funding for the bridge replacement has been released is welcome news for Duluth and the entire Twin Ports region. 

 

This has been a coordinated effort at every level, and I’m glad we were able to add our local voice at a critical moment to help get the funding unstuck and keep this critical project on track. And, timing matters. I’ve said consistently that delay would only increase costs and extend the project impact over more years.

 

The Blatnik Bridge project will have a direct impact on our thriving Lincoln Park Business District, where we also have the major Superior Street reconstruction project starting this summer. Aligning these timelines will help minimize disruption to the business district and Lincoln Park neighborhood residents."
