City of Duluth provides snow operations update, Friday, March 13, 2026, 8:00 AM

[DULUTH, MN] Duluthians are waking up today to several new inches of snow and strong wind gusts that are causing blizzard-like conditions this morning. The bulk of the snowfall is over and done, with a dusting to an inch expected to fall throughout the day, but sustained windy conditions and gusts topping 40 mph are expected through the afternoon as the clipper system moves out.

City of Duluth snowplow operators have been out in force clearing snow since 2:00 AM and continue to focus on the Priority 1 road network. Plow operators will work into the Priority 2 road network (residential streets) as conditions allow throughout the day. Whiteout conditions and drifting snow continue to reduce operators’ capacity. The City of Duluth asks residents to avoid driving if they can, and to give the plow operators plenty of room if they must be on the roads. Remember: take it slow on snow and ice.

Parked vehicles and illegally parked vehicles continue to be an issue that hampers plowing progress, so please be mindful of parking regulations, or risk your vehicle being ticketed and/or towed. Alternate side parking is on the even side of the street this week.

For more information on our snow and ice policy, please visit https://duluthmn.gov/snow/.

City of Duluth facilities remain open to the public this morning, but with limited staffing. The workforce center, however, will not be open to the public today and staff will work remotely.

Duluth Parks and Recreation’s morning programming is cancelled today.

The City of Duluth will provide updates as conditions warrant. The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding as crews work to maintain roads during and after snow events. Please stay safe while traveling.
