Structure fire on 500 block of E Fourth Street

 

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] Duluth Fire Department responded at 5:34 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 to a report of a possible structure fire on the 500 block of E Fourth Street. Crews from Downtown Headquarters were first on scene and observed smoke coming from the basement of a commercial building on the block. Firefighters made entry into the basement and extinguished a fire in the basement. Firefighters from Downtown, Lincoln Park, UMD, and Duluth Heights all worked to extinguish the fire, which was confined to the basement area. Smoke and water damage affected the upper floors, as well.

 

No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause and extent of damage are yet unknown. The incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
