Every Child Ready Duluth invites families to a day of learning, play, and community at Family Fest

(DULUTH, MN) Families with children aged birth to five years are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day of music, movement, storytelling, and play at Every Child Ready Duluth Family Fest, happening Saturday, February 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Saint Louis County Depot. The event is hosted by Every Child Ready Duluth, a collaborative led by the Duluth Public Library that works to ensure every child in Duluth gets a strong start in life. Family Fest brings together free entertainment for children and valuable resources for parents and caregivers, —all designed to support early learning and help young children build the skills they need to be successful in school.

“We are excited to bring Family Fest back for a fifth year,” said Carmella Hatch, Early Literacy Librarian with the Duluth Public Library. “This event shows how our community comes together to support families with young children. We hope parents and caregivers leave feeling connected, informed, and inspired, —and that kids have a great day playing and learning.”

Family Fest highlights include:

  • Puppet show performances of Tales of Dagsi Turtle & Jisdu by Z Puppets Rosenschnoz
  • Anishinaabe drumming
  • Free admission to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum
  • Face painting
  • Prize drawings and giveaways
  • Calm and sensory-friendly play area, hosted by the Masonic Children’s Clinic
  • Free parking for Family Fest attendees will be available in the Depot parking lot, west of the building
  • Free rides to and from the event will be available on a first come, first served basis by SK Taxi

Throughout the event, families can connect with a range of local organizations offering hands-on activities and helpful information focused on early childhood development and school readiness. Participating organizations include AEOA Early Head Start, All Nations Rise, Aspirus St. Luke's OBGYN and Pediatrics, Brightwater Health, Divine Konnections, Duluth Children's Museum, CHUM, Duluth Public Schools Early Childhood Family Education, Essentia Pediatrics, First Witness, Insure Duluth, Lake Superior YMCA, Lincoln Park Children and Families Collaborative, Masonic Children's Clinic for Communication Disorders, Northland Foundation, Proctor/Hermantown Early Childhood programs, Saint Louis County Public Health, Whole Foods Co-op, and more.
