City of Duluth provides plow operations update, Wednesday, February 18

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 | 8:30 AM

[DULUTH, MN] Duluthians are waking up today to anywhere from four to eight new inches of heavy, wet snow this morning, February 18, 2026. Blizzard conditions also resulted in downed trees and power lines in multiple locations last night. The National Weather Service in Duluth is forecasting an additional several inches throughout the day today, with sustained windy conditions and gusts topping 40 mph. Windy conditions will gradually subside throughout the day.  Road conditions are treacherous due to the snow compaction and whiteout conditions. If you can avoid traveling during thi storm, you should. If you must travel, please pack an emergency weather kit.

City of Duluth snowplow operators have completed a full pass on the City’s P1 roadways and continue to focus on the P1 road network. Plow operators will also work into the Priority 2 road network (residential streets) as conditions allow throughout the day. Whiteout conditions and heavy moisture content continue to reduce operators’ capacity. The City of Duluth asks residents to avoid driving if they can, and to give the plow operators plenty of room if they must be on the roads. Remember: take it slow on snow and ice.

The City’s full available fleet of 40 plow trucks and motor graders will be out on its 530 miles of roadway clearing snow and ice and laying down grit material throughout the day today, but residents should expect progress to be slow due to current weather conditions.

Parked vehicles and illegally parked vehicles continue to be an issue that hampers plowing progress, so please be mindful of parking regulations, or risk your vehicle being ticketed and/or towed. Alternate side parking is on the odd side of the street this week.

The City of Duluth will provide updates on snowplow operations as conditions warrant. The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding as crews work to maintain roads during and after snow events. Please stay safe while traveling.
