Duluth Fire Department offers limited supply of installed carbon monoxide alarms to homes without them
[DULUTH, MN] Thanks to a grant from the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office, the Duluth Fire Department will supply and install free carbon monoxide detectors to homeowners in the city limits of Duluth. The Duluth Fire Department was supplied a quantity of 300 carbon monoxide alarms to install in qualifying homes in the City of Duluth. The units will be installed on a first come, first served basis by a member of the Duluth Fire Department during the month of October.
“We’re excited to offer this free service to a limited quantity of residents this year,” said Duluth Fire Marshal Lisa Consie. “Carbon monoxide sources include not just furnaces and water heaters, but also stoves, fire places, generators, grills, and vehicle exhaust. It’s an invisible, odorless, tasteless hazard that can prove fatal, which is why a carbon monoxide alarm is a critical piece of safety equipment for your home.”
Residents of the City of Duluth can request installation of a free carbon monoxide detector by emailing fireinspector@duluthmn.gov, or by calling (218) 730-4401.
