Structure Fire on 500 block of East Eighth Street Sunday morning

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] Duluth Fire Department responded early morning at 12:29 am, Sunday, September 28, 2025 to a report of a structure fire on the 500 block of East Eighth Street. Crews arrived to find a two-story, single-family residential structure fully involved in flames on the front side of both the structure’s first and second floors. Crews from Downtown, Lincoln Park, UMD, and Lakeside assisted in the response.  The structure’s four human occupants had safely self-evacuated upon crew arrival.

 

No humans reported injuries in the incident. Two pets (one dog, one cat) were found deceased in the response, and one cat was found alive after the response. All four human occupants were displaced by the fire.

 

Damage is estimated at $116K. The incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.

 

Duluth Fire Department thanks its partners at Minnesota Power, Duluth Police Department, and St. Louis County/911 dispatch for their assistance in the response.
