Munger Landing Celebration Event

Tuesday, August 5 | 10:00 AM | Munger Landing, located on Clyde Avenue | Duluth, MN 55808

[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth, along with partners at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WI DNR), will celebrate the completion of the Munger Landing Sediment Remediation project at a public  event at the remediation location on Clyde Avenue at 10:00 AM on Tuesday,  August 5.

The Munger Landing sediment removal project began in summer of 2022. The remediation project dredged approximately 100,000 cubic yards of sediment and soil from the landing, channel, and wetland. Dredged areas were covered with a clean layer of sand.

The project removed invasive species, installed native plants, and restore underwater areas for fish spawning.

The project also replaced the boat ramp and created a sandy paddle sport launch area north of the fishing pier.  The fishing pier was also replaced as a part of this project. Completion of the project contributes to the removal of area impairments such as: restrictions on fish and wildlife consumption, loss of wildlife habitat, beach closings, and more.
