Structure fire on Spear Avenue

 

 

[DULUTH, MN] At 4:18 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Duluth Fire was dispatched to a call of a structure fire at 617 Spear Avenue. Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy smoke and an active fire in the basement of a single-family residential structure. Crews from Woodland, UMD, Lakeside, and Downtown stations worked to attack the fire quickly. No humans were injured in the incident, and all human residents were safely evacuated. Three pet dogs were home at the time of the fire and were found deceased.

 

The home’s residents are temporarily displaced currently and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Damage is estimated at $100K. The cause of the structure fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
