City of Duluth is monitoring storms for flooding in far western Duluth
[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth is monitoring the potential for localized flooding in the Fond du Lac neighborhood on Water Street due to the large volume of rain received over the past week and potential for more tonight. Water levels in the St. Louis River Estuary are currently especially high and are beginning to encroach on public and private property. Additional precipitation may cause waters to exacerbate flood conditions between Highway 23 and the St. Louis River. Residents in the area should prepare to evacuate in the event that such a public safety measure becomes necessary. If an evacuation is deemed necessary, emergency instructions would be distributed to those affected via Northland Alert.

Flood waters can be extremely dangerous, posing a threat to life and property. Do not drive through standing water, as doing so can be very dangerous. An automobile can be swept away in only 12 inches of flood water. If you come upon flooding while traveling, please call 911 to report it. Residents should remain vigilant and use caution near floodwaters; keep children and pets away from running floodwaters near culverts, drains, and pipes. Residents in lower-lying areas should remain aware of the continued potential for flooding in those areas.
The City will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as able.
