SUBJECT: Structure Fire
BY: Assistant Chief D. Edwards
NATURE OF INCIDENT: Structure Fire
CASE NO.: 6939
INCIDENT DATE: 6/18/2024
INCIDENT TIME: 0012
INCIDENT LOCATION: 700 Blk W 6th St
This morning at 0012 the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at a two story single family house. Duluth Police arrived first and reported the front stairs and porch to be engulfed and the officers made sure the three residents had escaped. Fire units from Headquarters arrived within three minutes of dispatch and quickly knocked down the blaze and kept the fire from reaching the interior of the house. Firefighters from Headquarters, Lincoln Park and Spirit Valley responded and were on scene for about two hours. There were no injuries.
Quick action by a neighbor that discovered the fire, called 911 and then alerted the occupants was certainly a factor in the damage not being greater. The fire is being investigated by the Duluth Fire Marshal's office. The damage is estimated at $30,000.
The DFD would like to thank the quick acting neighbor, the Duluth Police Department and the St. Louis County Dispatchers.
