Duluth Fire Department responds to structure fire at 2408 E Fourth Street
[DULUTH, MN] At 2:26 PM today, March 17, Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a call of a structure fire at 2408 E Fourth Street after a resident returned home to find a fire in their kitchen. While the family was not present during the fire, a family dog was. The dog was unharmed in the incident. The home sustained some smoke damage from the fire that was contained to the kitchen area. Fast alerting of 911, effective direction from 911 operators to the residents to close the house back up while the fire department was en route, along with a fast response by the fire department limited the damage of what could have been a more significant fire.
Crews from DFD Headquarters responded within two minutes. Station 4, station 6, and station 11 also responded to the incident. Two adults, four children, and one dog are unharmed but displaced by the fire. Approximately $20K to $25K in damage is estimated in damage to the building. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
Duluth Fire Department thanks their partners at Saint Louis County 911 dispatch for their assistance in the response to this incident, as well as Duluth Police Department and the American Red Cross. The incident is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
