Munger Landing partially reopens to the public

[DULUTH, MN] Munger Landing (Clyde Avenue Boat Landing) has partially reopened to the public. The partial reopening will allow the public to resume use of parking and the boat landing. In the spring, the landing will temporarily close again to allow for completion of remaining work. Remaining work to be completed in the spring includes repair of asphalt parking areas and vehicular circulation.

In the summer of 2022, Munger Landing closed to the public for a contaminated sediment removal project conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and industry partners. This project was completed through the voluntary Great Lakes Legacy Act program. The remediation project dredged approximately 100,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment and soil from the landing, river channel, and wetland. Dredged areas were covered with a clean layer of sand. The project removed invasive species, and native species seeding has been installed. Please stay out of seeded areas marked with snow fencing, as they need time to establish.
