SUBJECT: Temporary closure of the Lakewalk below Gichi-Ode Akiing beginning 10/23

Temporary closure of the Lakewalk below Gichi-Ode’ Akiing beginning October 23

 

[DULUTH, MN] Beginning Monday, October 23, a portion of the Lakewalk will temporarily close for shoreline restoration work (see the map below). The Lakewalk will have a detour through Gichi-Ode’ Akiing for the project duration, which is expected to take eight weeks. Trucks will be hauling materials from Superior Street near Fitger’s parking lot to the restoration site. A flagger will be on site to direct pedestrians when trucks are crossing the Lakewalk. Please stay clear of construction zones and exercise caution in this area.

The work will repair shoreline damage sustained during storms in November of 2022. The repair work is supported by Minnesota State Disaster funding.
