Knotweed workshop to be held at Hartley Nature Center

[DULUTH, MN] The Duluth Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA), together with the City of Duluth and other partners, are hosting a  workshop on how to deal with the aggressive knotweed plant that is invading many private and public areas.

The knotweed workshop will be held on Tuesday, August 1 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Hartley Nature Center.

Knotweed (also known as bamboo) is an invasive plant that spreads rapidly. It can cause damage to your property and even your home’s foundation. This species crowds out native species in our natural areas and stream corridors and is very hard to remove once it takes hold of an area. The Duluth Collaborative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) will provide information on how to identify, map, and slow the spread of knotweed. Join your community in learning what to do and what not to do with this aggressive plant.

For more information, please contact Lori Seele, CISMA Coordinator, at (218) 393-9581 or lori@stewardshipnetwork.org.
