Playground at Chester Park closed for improvements July 26-28 (Barry Family Memorial Project)
[DULUTH, MN] The City of Duluth will temporarily close the playground at Chester Park from Wednesday, July 26 through Friday, July 28 for improvements, including replacement of the fall zone materials. The current sand material will be replaced with engineered wood fiber to improve playground safety and accessibility. Other improvements include the installation of an accessible swing, the removal of the existing spinner element, and the placement of concrete footings for a replacement spinner. The replacement spinner will be installed the week of July 31, after the concrete footings have cured. The playground is expected to be closed for three days and reopen on Saturday, July 29, subject to weather conditions.
This work is part of the Barry Family Memorial Project, which has been made possible by support from generous community members, friends, and loved ones of Riana, Sean, Shiway, and Sadie Barry, in their remembrance. Additionally, upcoming project work includes re-grading the area adjacent to the playground to allow for the installation of an accessible path and the installation of a bench.
