Minnesota Recreation and Park Association to Present Award of Excellence for the Essential Spaces: Duluth Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Plan at Tonight’s City Council Meeting
[DULUTH, MN] Each year, the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) recognizes park and recreation agencies and organizations in Minnesota for outstanding achievements and accomplishments. On June 26, 2023, Michelle Snider, Executive Director of MRPA, will present an Award of Excellence to the City of Duluth for the City’s comprehensive park system plan, the Essential Spaces: Duluth Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Trails Plan. The award will be presented at the City Council meeting at 7 pm.
The Essential Spaces Plan is a community-informed plan to guide the future of Duluth’s parks, recreation, open space, and trails system to support a healthy and vibrant community, enhance inclusion and equity, and advance environmental protection under a sustainable budget framework. The plan recognizes the important function that parks and recreation serve in Duluth, and honors the robust legacy of resident involvement and partnerships that make the system what it is today.
Duluth Parks and Recreation staff are honored to accept this MRPA Award of Excellence on behalf of the City of Duluth.
