Duluth Public Arts Commission and Duluth Parks and Recreation collaborate to bring new skating and arts experience to Bayfront Park

[DULUTH, MN] The Duluth Public Arts Commission and Duluth Parks and Recreation Department are co-hosting a unique new skating and arts experience called “Friends of the Light” at Bayfront Park on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11.

“Friends of the Light” is a projected art installation created by a team of Duluth artists. Visitors and skaters will be able to view a projected art installation, arranged by projection artist Daniel Benoit, created by capturing and animating a series of original paintings made by Tara Austin and Emily Koch. Viewers will see native creatures, like a magical fox, a stunning sturgeon, and a friendly loon, and traditional Norwegian Rosemaling animated and come to life in the projections, which will be shown on top of the Bayfront Family Center from 5:30 until 8:00 pm on February 10 and 11.

This event is free to the public. Skates are available for loan at no cost to the user, and concessions are available for purchase during regular warming house hours.

Typical Bayfront Park Family Center and Warming House hours are Monday through Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm, Saturday from noon until 7:00 pm, and Sunday from noon until 4:00 pm. Hours are extended until 8:00 pm on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11 for this exciting event.
