Lincoln Park playground construction to begin

[Duluth, MN] Construction will begin the week of November 14 on the Lincoln Park improvement project, starting with removal of the current playground equipment to make way for new and improved recreation facilities to be added starting in spring 2023.  The existing playground will be disassembled this fall and will be used for replacement parts at other compatible playgrounds throughout the City.

Next spring, the park will be closed for an extended period of time in order to construct new and rehabilitate existing park amenities. The park improvement project includes: restoration of the historic stone pavilion to include new ADA restroom facilities, relocation and replacement of the playground, two new parking lots, a new nature playscape, new and refurbished picnic pavilions, a new multi-use sport court, accessible trails, and lighting.

For more information about the project, please visit: https://duluthmn.gov/parks/parks-planning/st-louis-river-corridor/lincoln-park-improvement-project/. A concept plan for the park enhancements is available at https://duluthmn.gov/media/12149/lincoln-park-nps-concept-plan-81321.pdf

This project is made possible by grant funding from the National Park Service Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program administered by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources Clean Water Fund Competitive Grants Program, the City of Duluth’s Community Development Block Grant Program, and the U.S. Bank Foundation. Additional funding support comes from half-and-half tourism tax proceeds, City of Duluth parks capital, Super Bowl Legacy program, and donations from Essentia Health, maurices, St. Luke’s, and Minnesota Power.
