Hartley Nature Center expansion and park improvements ribbon cutting to be held October 17 at 4:00 pm

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth and Hartley Nature Center invite the public to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 4:00 pm to celebrate the recent completion of the Hartley Nature Center building expansion and park improvements. The event will take place at Hartley Nature Center located at 3001 Woodland Ave, Duluth, MN 55803. A public tour of the building addition will take place immediately following the ribbon cutting.

In 2019, the City of Duluth was awarded $1.29 million from the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission (GMRPTC) Legacy Grant Program to support the implementation of the Hartley Park Mini-Master Plan, including a building expansion, improved sidewalk connectivity, additional parking, and comprehensive signage and wayfinding. Additional project support came from Hartley Nature Center and the Park Fund.

The 5,000 square foot facility expansion (to the existing 7,500 square foot building) provides additional classroom spaces, a second restroom facility, an expanded office area, gathering space, and a public meeting room. The enhanced facility supports our community’s increasing demands for environmental education, recreational programming, and opportunities to connect with nature and with one another.
