Public comment period for the draft Essential Spaces: Duluth Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Plan
[Duluth, MN] The public is invited to review and comment on the draft Essential Spaces: Duluth Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails Master Plan.
The Essential Spaces master plan will provide guidance on Duluth’s system of parks, recreation, open space, and trails for the next decade. The plan provides recommendations on how the City can continue to support a healthy and vibrant community, enhance inclusion and equity, and advance environmental protection in our park system within a sustainable budget framework.
The Essential Spaces master plan was informed by robust community engagement, including a series of focus group meetings, a community survey, interactive community workshops, presentations to the Parks and Recreation Commission, and guidance from a 21-member Project Advisory Committee comprised of City staff, Parks and Recreation Commissioners, and citizen representatives.
The draft Essential Spaces master plan and a comment form is available at https://duluthmn.gov/parks/parks-planning/progress-in-the-park/essential-spaces/.
Printed copies of the plan are available for review at the Parks and Recreation office, Ground Floor of City Hall during regular office hours (8:30 am-4 pm) and all three library branches.
The public comment period will close on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Parks and Recreation will review the public comments received, incorporate changes where appropriate, and prepare the final plan for consideration at the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on September 21, 2022 before bringing it to City Council for final approval.
