NATURE OF INCIDENT: Structure Fire
CASE NO.: 6890

INCIDENT TIME: 0329
INCIDENT LOCATION: 312 E 5th St.

[Duluth, MN]

This morning at 0329, the Duluth Fire Department responded for a report of a building on fire at 312 E 5th St. The Duluth Police Department was on scene within a minute and confirmed fire on the exterior of the building that appeared to be vacant. DPD evacuated the residents of the adjacent structure.  The DFD arrived two minutes later and reported a three story four unit building with an exterior fire on the delta side that was extending to the second floor.  Headquarters crews knocked down the exterior fire and advanced into the structure to find that the fire had extended into the first story wall both above and below the window adjacent to the origin of the fire. The interior fire was then extinguished as searches were conducted on all levels including the basement. No one was found inside the building and the exterior had been secure prior to DFD's arrival.

Damage is estimated at $10,000. The fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office. No firefighters were injured. Firefighters from Headquarters, Lincoln Park and UMD stations responded.
