INCIDENT LOCATION: 126 East 1st Street
Almost four hours later, Fire crews still on scene of downtown building fire
[Duluth, MN] Duluth Fire crews are still on the scene of a structure fire that started at 2:05 a.m. this morning. Smoke was reported in coming from the building. When crews arrived on scene they reported heavy fire coming from the second story of the building.
Within thirty minutes of arriving, crews were pulled from the building and the fire has been fought defensively since.
This is still a very active scene. Traffic has been shut down on the 100 block of East 1st Street. Traffic is shut down on Michigan Street between 2nd Avenue West and 1st Avenue West. The last traffic closure is on Second Avenue East between 2nd Street and Superior Street.
Fire crews expect to be on scene well into the morning. The fire is still actively burning.
An update will be provided as traffic routes reopen, and once the fire has been put out. No additional information is available at this time.
