Ribbon Cutting for St. Louis River Corridor Snowmobile Trails to be held December 17 

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Division and the Hermantown Night Riders will be hosting a ribbon-cutting on Friday, December 17, at noon to celebrate significant improvements to the St. Louis River Corridor snowmobile trails. The ribbon-cutting will occur at the restored Kingsbury Bridge, which is approximately a half-mile from the Kingsbury Creek Trail Head located at 7215 Waseca Street. Attendees are encouraged to practice social distancing during the event. Sleds are welcome!

This ribbon cutting celebrates the revival of a lost ridgeline snowmobile route above the Fairmount and Norton Park neighborhoods. This reclaimed trail offers incredible views of the St. Louis River Estuary and Duluth’s Lake Superior Harbor, connects to the Cody neighborhood, and completes the link to the Hermantown trail system. The 1.25-mile trail, previously lost to neglect, has been restored with new culverts, erosion repair, rock and stump pulls, and trail brushing. Additionally, bridge restoration work was completed for the Kingsbury Bridge, which has been fully restored, and the Knowlton Bridge, which has been partially restored. The City is in the process of acquiring additional funds to complete the Knowlton Creek Bridge restoration.

This project was made possible by volunteers from the Hermantown Night Riders and funding from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Regional Trail Grant Program, Federal Recreational Trail Program, half and half tourism tax funds, and other City funds.
