The City of Duluth is issuing a notification that the electronic rip current signs located on Park Point are temporarily turned off for maintenance.
The purpose of the electronic LED signs is to warn residents and visitors of daily swimming conditions along the beaches of Park Point. The two signs are located at 12th St. South and at 5000 Minnesota Ave. (Park Point). The signs are part of Duluth's rip current awareness program.
Swimmers may still reference the red, yellow or green colored flags used to communicate forecasted daily swimming conditions issued by the National Weather Service. Beach users and swimmers may also reference the websites, parkpointbeach.org or weather.gov/beach
It is not known how long the signs will be down for maintenance, but another press release will be issued upon their return to service.
