City of Duluth announces buildings reopening on June 1

[Duluth, MN] Most City of Duluth buildings will reopen to the public on June 1. This comes as most if not all buildings had been closed to the public since March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 health pandemic.

The following buildings will again be open to the public beginning on June 1:

-        City Hall

-        Mt. Royal and West Duluth Branch Libraries

-        Public Safety Building

-        Comfort Systems

Duluth Fire Stations will continue to operate on an appointment only basis until further notice.

“The Duluth Fire Department hopes to be open to the public later this summer,” Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj said. “We continue to watch vaccination numbers within the state and county for any possible COVID-19 surges. As the City of Duluth reopens in general, we want to make sure that we have enough staff to respond to emergencies. We look forward to welcoming the public back to our stations as soon as we can.”

Due to construction, the Main Duluth Public Library will reopen to the public on June 7 under current hours. For hours, and services, please visit https://duluthlibrary.org/

Duluth City Hall will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. All residents will need to enter the building through the main doors off of Priley Circle.

A welcome desk has been created inside of the double doors wear City staff can assist the public. Members of the public will be asked to do a health self-screening prior to meeting with staff. The public is not required to wear masks in City buildings, however, non-vaccinated residents are strongly encouraged to wear masks pursuant to the Centers of Disease Control, and Minnesota Department of Health guidelines.

Due to construction in Duluth City Hall, some divisions will not be open for walk-in traffic, and will require contact by phone or email to schedule an appointment. For those wanting to pay parking tickets, there is a drop off box located on Second Street behind City Hall, or tickets can be mailed. For more information, or to inquire with a specific department, please call 218-730-5000.
