City of Duluth, CHUM Partner with Community Organizers to clean the Point of Rocks area
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth, community organizers, and CHUM invite volunteers to assist in a clean-up of the area commonly referred to as the Point of Rocks. City staff and community organizers began the clean-up today, which will continue tomorrow, April 2, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 3, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Clean-up supplies, including bags, gloves, litter pickers, and rakes, will be provided. Sanitation stations will be available. City of Duluth Park Maintenance staff will be on-site to assist with the clean-up efforts. Due to COVID, masks are required, and social distancing will be practiced. The clean-up events will follow guidelines set forth by the Minnesota Department of Health.
Over the last couple of weeks, community organizers Reece Townsend and Ryan Goldberg, in addition to volunteers, the clean-up process at the site. During an initial volunteer clean-up project held on Saturday, March 20, nearly 20 cubic yards of trash were removed from the site.

The City would like to thank the Ordean Foundation who provided funding from a grant to provide lunch for volunteers on Saturday, April 3. The Ordean Foundation also supported volunteer coordination of this clean-up effort.
