Overnight structure fire in Spirit Valley
[Duluth, MN] At 3:32 a.m. this morning, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 4706 West 5th Street. Upon arrival at the single-family home, crews found the rear addition of the home engulfed in flames. Crews pulled hose lines to the back of the house to begin attacking the fire. The fire was knocked down, and crews began overhaul.
The fire was contained to the rear three-season addition of the home. The cause of the fire was determined to be electric.
The homeowners self-evacuated during the fire and before crews arrived. They sustained no injuries from the fire.
Damage was limited to the rear addition of the home, with light smoke damage to the interior of the house. Damage is estimated to be at $40,000. The fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office.
Crews from Headquarters, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley Fire Stations responded to the scene.
