DECC Shares the Love with an ice cream donation to the DFD
[Duluth, MN] It's Valentine’s Day week, and love and appreciation are in the air! The DECC staff presented the Duluth Fire Department with 25 three-gallon tubs of ice cream earlier today, as a part of their “Share the Love” initiative.
“While having leftover food is not a great thing for the DECC, it can be a great thing for the community,” DECC Interim Executive Director Roger Reinert said. “On Valentine’s Day week, this was a great time to share our Duluth firefighters some love.
He went on to say, “Donating previous inventory is a positive thing- it allows us to prep freezer space for new inventory and new activities.”
Deputy Chief Jon Otis was excited to see the donation. “This was not at all expected,” he said. “But appreciated. We acknowledge that the DECC is going through a tough time, and we look forward to celebrating with them when things turn the corner. We have always had a good relationship with the DECC, and again really appreciate them recognizing the work we do by providing this sweet treat.”
“We distributed the ice cream to all of our stations, and again really want to thank the DECC for thinking of us,” Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj said. “Regardless of the time of year, we appreciate the community’s support.”
