Duluth Fire responds to second structure fire in 24 hours
[Duluth, MN] At 7:24p.m., the Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire call located at 4307 Regent Street. Upon arrival, Six Engine reported seeing smoke showing from the chimney and around the home. They advanced a line to the back door of the home and were able to knock down the fire quickly. The fire located in the basement extended to a void space in a stairwell.
Other crews conducted an overhaul in the basement and first level of the home to fully extinguish the fire.
The homeowners and their family had been able to evacuate the home prior to crews arriving, however they mentioned to crews that their cat was believed to still be inside. Rescue 1 did a search of the home and was able to locate the cat. The cat was unharmed and returned to homeowners.
The fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office. No additional information is available on the cause of the fire at this time.
Damage to the home is estimated to be $20,000 in structural damage, and an additional $20,000 in contents.
Crews from Headquarters, UMD, Woodland, and Lakeside responded to the fire. Duluth Comfort Systems and the Duluth Police Department also provided on scene assistance.
