Cold Front activities postponed due to dangerously cold temperatures

[Duluth, MN] The upcoming Cold Front activities scheduled to take place on February 6-8, have been postponed due to dangerously cold weather. According to the National Weather Service, Duluth and the surrounding area will experience several days of dangerously cold wind chill values with frostbite on exposed skin occurring in less than 20 minutes. To ensure the public’s safety, City of Duluth Park and Recreation staff are encouraging the public to stay inside this weekend and participate in Cold Front events at a later date.

The Yeti Hunt that was scheduled to take place on Sunday February 7, is now scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Starting at 10:00 a.m. clues will be released hourly on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page that will lead participants to the park with the Yeti. Participants must take a picture with the Yeti and not give away the location and post it to social media channels or send an email to Parks to be entered to win a prize. Prize includes a Yeti coffee mug and a Parks and Recreation merchandise. Use #ColdFront2021 to double your drawing entries.

City-wide Snow-building Extravaganza is now scheduled to take place Sunday, February 14, all day. Put your creativity and snow-sculpting skills to the test in your local park! Photos of creations shared to Parks social media or emailed to Parks will be entered in a drawing to win a prize. Use #ColdFront2021 to double your drawing entries.

Dog sledding registration was randomly selected by lottery. Selected participants will receive an email with postponement details soon.

The remaining events including the Winter Wonderland Equipment Pop-up, Agents of Discovery, Luminary Walk, and BAE-front Valentine’s Skate will all be evaluated next week, and additional postponements will be communicated at that time.
