On Monday December 21st, at 9:52 pm the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 1201 104th Ave West in the Gary neighborhood. Number 10 Engine was first to arrive and reported heavy smoke from a detached garage. Firefighters were able to gain access by removing the fire damaged overhead door and knock down the fire. A pickup truck inside the garage was also fully involved and was winched out of the fire by the 8 Quint crew and extinguished.

Damages are estimated at $15,000 dollars to the structure and $15,000 to the contents, including the pickup truck that was destroyed by the fire. The fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.

Firefighters were on scene for 2 hours and there were no injuries. Fire crews from Gary, Spirit Valley, Lincoln Park and Headquarters were called to the scene. The Duluth Police Department also assisted at the scene.
